Labor
Day will soon be here. On that day we honor all the working people
of our country. We automatically think of those who are employed at
a job that pays them for their work. But a lot of “labor” is
also done by VOLUNTEERS!This year I want to remember and recognize the work done by volunteers. I am most familiar with the volunteers who work hard here at Lowman UMC. On behalf of the whole congregation, let me say, “THANK YOU,” to all our volunteers. We couldn’t provide the ministries we do without you. Once upon a time, Lowman was a larger church with a larger employed staff. There was sometimes the mindset that “the staff will take care of that.” In 2003 we have a smaller staff, and some of the jobs once done by paid staff are now done by volunteers. This is in addition to all the work that has always been contributed by volunteers, such as singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. |
We
have volunteers to unlock the church on Sundays, drive the golf cart
for our parking lot shuttle service, assist in the nursery, greet
at the front door and the visitor desk, and deliver first time visitor
packets after second service. We have volunteers in the technology
room during the Sunday services, volunteers who help with office
work, and volunteers who are involved in yard care. And the list
goes on and on! Grace and Peace, |
