A
Word From the Pastor
“Here
is the Church, here
is the VBS.
Open the Church, and where are all the children?”
Well, it doesn’t rhyme,
but hopefully you get the idea! We have another great Vacation Bible School
planned for Lowman UMC. It will begin on Sunday,
July 27, with an outdoor carnival. The regular sessions are Monday through
Friday, July 28 through August 1, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
We are so fortunate to have Nancy McKenzie and Jan Worster giving leadership,
with the support of our Children’s Ministry Team. We have great teachers
and helpers lined up. The curriculum has been getting rave reviews from other
churches who have already had their VBS. NOW WE JUST NEED THE CHILDREN!!
Our first effort is always to contact and enroll all of “our” kids,
whose parents are members and who attend Hallelujah Highway and our other
classes on Sunday mornings. Then we encourage grandparents to enroll their
grandkids,
whether they live in Topeka or not, whether they attend another church or
not.
But someday our first effort will be to reach children who don’t have
any church, especially those who live in our neighborhood right here. And we
want to also reach their siblings and their parents — in fact, to reach
whole families for Jesus Christ! And Vacation Bible School is one of our
greatest avenues for this.
So I challenge you ALL to become invitational, which means “look around
in your neighborhood, locate some children, and invite them (through their
parents) to our VBS!
Grace and Peace
