A Word From the Pastor
Dan Waters, Senior Pastor Summer time is fast approaching! That was always exciting for me when I was in school. I was ready for a break! Yet I’ve learned that in the church’s ministry, summer time does not mean “lazy” time. True, we will not be having music group rehearsals and DISCIPLE Bible Studies. However, summer is an important and often busy time in the life of Lowman UMC.

I invite you all to come to Lowman on Wednesday nights beginning June 2. After a good meal at 6:00 and a short worship at 6:30, we will move to “Learning Ventures at Lowman.” This summer there will be ALPHA for all youths and adults. We will also repeat the writing course offered in the spring. Bad Girls of the Bible, followed by Really Bad Girls of the Bible, and a video series on Prominent People of the New Testament will be our summer Bible studies.

We need you all to help us out with Vacation Bible School. Those who can be teachers and assistants will be the most helpful. We also need some people to donate needed items and we invite ALL to pray for our children and leaders. VBS, from 6:00 to 8:30 each evening, begins on June 21 and ends on June 25.

Since the choirs are off for the summer, we are inviting anyone who wishes to contribute special music for all of our worship services. There is a sign-up sheet available for this in the choir room. Beginning July 3 we will need a Saturday Worship Team to coordinate the Saturday evening worship services. We will need Liturgists for the 8:30 service and people to deliver the Children’s Messages at both services. And summer would be an excellent time for you to drop in on our Contemporary Worship Team meetings on Monday nights at 7:00.

The arrival of summer means it it time to begin planning and working for our fall Church Conference. Those of you on the appropriate committees will be contacted. Remember our financial needs during the summer months. And hopefully everyone will be able to take vacations and have some time for relaxation and recreation “in the good old summertime.”

As you are outdoors, remember to give thanks and praise to God, the Creator of all that is; and to the Savior of the world, all the people, and you and me—Jesus Christ; and pray for the Sustainer, the Holy Spirit, to be at the center of your life.

Grace and Peace,
Dan Waters
